How did SpaceAG come to be? Learn more about us

SpaceAG has been transforming the agricultural industry, and we have also evolved as a company and a brand over time. However, many things happened over the years to bring us to where we are today. Today, we share the story of our founders and how we became SpaceAG—the company aiming to better feed the planet while transforming the industry and improving the quality of life for our agricultural workers.

Many years ago, Cesar Urrutia and Guillermo de Vivanco formed a friendship at school, unaware that years later they would build a company together, working hand-in-hand to achieve great things.

In 2001, Cesar Urrutia, one of our founders, created SpaceDat in Italy, where he spent several years processing satellite images for the European market. Meanwhile, in 2002, Guillermo De Vivanco, our other founder, was working as a Financial Analyst at GMD. Years later, in 2011—a year after Guillermo completed his MBA—Cesar decided to bring SpaceDat to Peru.

Once Cesar returned from Italy, they reconnected, though they still didn't know what the future held for them. In 2014, SpaceDat conducted its first drone flight. A year later, in 2015, Cesar decided the company needed to pivot and focus purely on agriculture, while Guillermo was working as Network Director at Angel Ventures for Startup Investors.

A year after that, Cesar and Guillermo decided to join forces to launch Space AG, a purpose-driven company founded in 2017. Space AG began its journey flying drones over farm fields in Peru, which provided farmers with greater visibility over their crops. It was during this time that Space AG spearheaded making digital technology and valuable agricultural tools widely known across the country.

In 2018, they created Raptorview, now known as SpaceAG View—the technological software that integrates data from different platforms to give you more accurate insights into your crops. Later, in 2021, the Space AG team created Raptorforms, now called SpaceAG Forms, a tool designed to digitize your field evaluations.

Space AG places a strong focus on innovation in the agricultural sector to continuously improve digital technology processes and offer the best to our clients. We also feature an R&D innovation center and tech solutions designed to transform agricultural fields.
